This preeminent cyber resilience event takes a "whole community" approach, bringing together the private and public sectors, owners and operators, cybersecurity experts, students, and community members to network and train together to defend our infrastructure from ever-evolving cyber threats. The event is hosted by the University of Oregon and the Technology Association of Oregon (TAO) in partnership with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Oregon TITAN Fusion Center (OTFC), as part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month .
About the Summit
Cyber threats represent some of the most significant challenges to national security, our economic systems, and our basic way of life. Cyber risks affect all sectors: critical infrastructure, power and energy, banking, higher education, and many more. The interconnectedness of all sectors of our community causes cyber incidents in one area to affect the whole community. Consequently, to successfully defend our way of life, it is paramount that we work together to defend our cyber world.
Following up on our Capture the Flag event from 2020, this year we are introducing the Oregon Cyber Cup Challenge.

2021 Oregon Cyber Cup Challenge
Objectives
- Encourage the participation of cybersecurity talent by providing a hands-on educational opportunity; and
- Promote teambuilding while also cultivating a mentorship and networking opportunity across teams.
Teams
Teams from High School, Community Colleges, Universities and Public- or Private-sector institutions in Oregon are invited to participate in the Oregon Cyber Cup Challenge, hosted by the University of Oregon.
Teams can register for one of the three leagues:
- High School – covering teams with students from any high school in the state of Oregon.
- College – covering teams with the students from any 2-year/4-year public/private colleges in the state of Oregon.
- Professionals – covering teams from any public/private organizations, including educational institutions, with headquarters in the state of Oregon.
Each team will be comprised of three members to facilitate the formation of inter-league teams for Round Two.
Game Play
- Round One - The Oregon Cyber Cup Jamboree:
- Teams will compete in one of the following leagues, based off team members:
- High School – Day 1
- College – Day 2
- Professional – Day 3
- Teams will compete in one of the following leagues, based off team members:
- The top three teams from each League will move on to Round Two
- Round Two - The Oregon Cyber Cup Championship:
- Members from ranking teams in Round One will be shuffled across new teams to promote networking and increase learning opportunities.
- Teams will be comprised of one high school student, one college student, and one professional.
